What's up, Home-slice?

Well, well, well. My nachos have gotten stale and the beer flat. I haven't posted in a long time. I started school on 29 Aug. My friend Dan is on a boat off the shores of Alaska for a year hence. My achilles tendon hurts when I walk. I'm seriously thinking about exercising on a regular basis. (I'll get back to you on that one.) I just remembered I want to see the movie Beerfest. It came out the 25th. Probably wait till video.

Hell

It is hot.

My air conditioner can't keep up with the heat and humidity.  I long for winter's icy grip.  I was in North Dakota last week to do some work.  I made $400 in 5 days so that's not bad.  I really need it to get through this month until school starts again.  I became intrigued again with the French Foreign Legion last night.  Watched a video about training and whatnot.  However, I don't think it would work out for me.  Just a fantasy as a means to jump from one unsatisfying phase of life to another.  I've got to overcome that somehow.

Talked to Jana today about a visit soon.  Before she moves back to the west coast.  And Madeline is going to be in Mpls. on the 1st.  Gotta see her play.  Jana says it's cool.  I'll bet.

Peace

The Cat's Pajamas

Cat Stevens playing on iTunes and me about to go to bed. Being in my pajamas requires only that I take off my shirt.

Tomorrow I will leave for North Dakota in the morning to do some work for Blair. I still haven't found out if I passed my Network Operating Systems class. If I do it will be with a D and hopefully I won't have to pay back any of my GI Bill. I have a lot to pay already for my tuition and I want to be able to start the fall semester. I need to go to sleep now. Good Night.

Suckage

"My life may suck, but it sucks exactly the way I like it" -dieselsweeties

I think that sums it up quite well. It being how I feel about my life recently. A lot of things aren't the way I want them to be, but enough things are the way I want them to be as to negate the former. Also, I have a way of coping with adversity which is to make myself as comfortable in the muck as I can. Another idiom I like is: "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't." It's all about the comfort zone. I like the aforementioned idiom but it also reminds me that my nature is to play it safe, avoid risk and failure. I'll write more about that later. I have to sleep now.

Oh! I am extremely ecstatic, because by chance I discovered that the movie Beerfest will be coming out in August. It is by the fine actors from Super Troopers fame. I love Super Troopers. Anyway, Beerfest looks hilarious.

Solo

Home Alone 4! Well, not quite, but I am by myself. The wife is at a conference in the cities all weekend and the child is getting accustomed to her new gypsy family. I am just chillin', watching some tube and in about 15 minutes I will be scarfing some egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce. I like to bake things that have a crust. Just can't stand microwaved sogginess. Blues Traveller is rockin the mic on my headphones and I'm so relaxed.

Peace.

Older

Technically my birthday has passed, but since I haven't gone to bed yet, this day is not over. I just played a couple hours worth of Day of Defeat with my best friend Dan. He lives in Montana. Today, I slept in till 10 and when I went downstairs I found a huge puddle of water. Our landlord had been watering the grass and the faucet was leaking back inside the building and into our apartment. So I had to get a Shop-Vac and clean it up before going to lunch. It was a very hot day (93*) and I didn't get to eat till 1400. I had a steak and waffle fries at Mikey's, also a salad and apple pie a la mode for dessert. Then to the grocery store for some foodstuffs. Then some errands and home to put the groceries away. Supper was at the in-laws and was good. I scored $30 and a Napoleon Dynamite soundbyte keychain for my birthday so far. I talked to Viktoria on the phone and went to elyse's cousin's to look at his PC which was in a terrible state. When I got home I found my dad had called, so I called hime back and we had a nice chat. The events above are not necessarily in chronological order.

I haven't reflected much on the issue of my getting older; I really feel about the same. I tend to think in terms of seasons -chunks of time- that pass with gradual change until you look back and notice a greater change and marked stages in your life. Chapters, my friend Dan calls them. I'm still writing the current one I think.

Good Night

Der Ursprung

So it begins.  I have a lot of thoughts and have thus far recorded them only sporadically.  With this log, I endeavor to journal more reliably.  I wonder, now, whether these bits and bytes will last forever.  I hope to at least read them again when I am old and grey.  I like to spell it with an "e".  I was disappointed this past week that Germany did not win the World Cup, but I was thrilled to see them win 3rd place against Portugal.  Maybe next time I can see it live.  Well, I'm off to see what else I can do with my "blog".

Bis später…
